Now that we have covered waves and their properties let's apply what we know to reality. Using any current, local and international events, respond to the following question: How if at all do waves alter the environment?
Your answer need not be limited to nature and should include references to the scientific concepts we have been discussing.
Waves have a major influence on the marine environment and ultimately on the planet's climate.
ReplyDeleteTher are many types of waves that are now known. There are sound waves, light waves, EM waves. One of the most devestating things waves create are Tsunamis.
ReplyDeletewaves alter the environment in
ReplyDeletemany ways. it alters natural
disasters like tsunami an hurricanes.
it has an influence on our satellites
and our solor energy. it also has an affect on our beaches.
Waves have a major part on the water type environment and on the planets climate. It helps to keep the planet's temperature normal and to make its extremes smaler. Also The waves allow the wind to transfer its energy to the water's surface and to make it move.

ReplyDeleteWaves Alter The Enviroment in many ways. From the sweet beachy waves to horrifying earthquakes. I can relate this to current events by the disaster in Haiti. Waves Underground starting at one particular point moving at direction, leaving cracks and buildings down. Mainly in Port-Au-Prince. This tremendous earthquake has happened because the seismic waves shake the earth as they move through it, and when the waves reach the earth’s surface, they shake the ground and anything on it, like their buildings and themselves!

Paula Dorcenat:
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in positive and negative ways as well. Yes; waves do alter society all over the world. Firstly, waves obviously affects/alters the Earth negatively by earthquakes. For example, a simple wave or disturbance can range from a small puddle, to a region of land: changing a country of poverty like Haiti into more ruins than it already is in(ever before). On the other hand, waves benefit/alters society by means of infrared , ultraviolet, and/or x-rays by means of the medial field to help out people all the way to finding more information(scientists) for usage that could also lead to medical use.
Without waves, the world would be a different place. Waves transmit energy. Without waves, the winds would have only a very small grip on the water and would not be able to move it as much. The waves allow the wind to transfer its energy to the water's surface and to make it move.
ReplyDeleteWaves have a major impact on the environment.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, many natural disasters resemble waves. Examples are earthquakes, like in Haiti (seismic activity) and tsunamis (ocean waves).
Also, waves that are in the Em spectrum can greatly effect the Earth itself. Examples are infrared radiation from the sun and microwave radiation from space and microwaves (yes, microwaves use microwaves), used for telescopes an to map other stars and galaxies.
To stress waves impact on the Earth, lets take for example the recent Haiti disaster. First off, Earthquakes are waves generated by when two tetonic plates press on to each other by continental drift. When these two plates press so hard that they can not take the pressure anymore, they shake and pull back, causing a major disturbance and sends a powerful wave in all directions to nearby land and water. Waves from an earthquake that go to water form a tsunami. The more pressure the plates take, the more powerful the earthquake is. The Ritcher scale is used to measure the strength of an earthquake, measuring from 0-10. A 1 is rarely noticed, and a 10 causes great distructioon. The major earthquake in Haiti was a 7.0, the 14 hours ago from Jan 27, 2010 12:00 pm was a 4.9. (source earthquake.usgs.gov).
To stress on Tsunamis, they can be caused by an earthquake on, in, or near a body of water or the ocean. Again, the bigger the quake, the bigger the tsunami. The disturbance causes a MASSIVE wave headed away from the quake site. Since the wave is mechanical, it does not travel forever, but if a piece of land is near, then it could be subject to the tsunami. That is why Florida and other nearby states have been put on tsunami watch.

Without wave there would be no sound or even light. Everything will not be visible to see except Black.
Another Reason• Sun using wave to transfer heat energy to
earth to make mother earth green!
1 more reason . Using wave can let us contact with our relative or friend that is live far away much easier and faster by using Radio waves!
Waves has a huge effect which alters the environment in many ways. Waves also has a major influence on the marine environment and ultimately on the planets climate. Waves travel effortlessly along the waters surface. This is made possible by small movements of water molecules. I got this from Oceangraphy:waves.by Collin Shipley
ReplyDeleteWaves, caused by wind have a big impact on the environment.Without waves, the winds would have only a very small grip on the water and would not be able to move it as much. The waves allow the wind to transfer its energy to the water's surface and to make it move. When waves break, their energy is absorbed and converted to heat. Like sound waves, surface waves can refracted or reflected by solid objects.

Waves can really alter the environment. Waves are a major contributation to the disasters that occur. Water waves can rise up to about 100ft and cause tsunamis. Looking back on what happened in Haiti, seismic waves are part of the reason the earthquake happened. Although earthquakes aren't all that thrilling, they help to shape the world.

A wave is a disturbance that propagates through space and time, usually with transverse of energy. Waves alter the environment in various ways, some waves not as much as others. When some waves alter the environment they aren't visible or have a minimal impact that is able to be seen. For example offshore wave energy can be one of the most environmentally benign forms of electricity generations with a minimal visual impact form the shore. Waves have a dramatic impact on the marine environment and overall the climate. Waves are not harmonious shape, but are irregular and travel at a different speed and frequency. One way certain waves impact our marine environment is tsunamis. Tsunamis causes damage to buildings and infrastructure and animals and plants. Well your probably wondering how does this have anything to do with waves impacting the environment? Well, heres how without waves we wouldn't have tsunamis. The reason is tsunamis are very fast and long waves that bounce off the continental slope. Waves also affect our geography by pounding on rocks and making them erode faster, they make beaches by transporting sand form deeper down and replacing them on the shore and removing fine particles from the sand, and so much more. Waves don't only affect out geography however it also affects the creature of the sea. Due to waves we have a lot of species in the sea because they have to be able to robust and adapt. As you can see, without waves the Earth would be a different place and waves have a tremendous affect on our environment.
ReplyDeleteWaves help to stabilise the planet's temperature and to minimise its extremes. For instance, because of warm ocean currents arriving from the north, the temperature of New Zealand is 3-4 degrees higher than it would be without them. For the creatures in the sea, ocean currents allow their larvae to be spread out and to be carried great distances. Many creatures breed only during storms when large waves can mix their reproductive systems effectively.

Another way waves alter our environment is by earthquakes and explosions. Just like tsunamis a wave causes these to occur, that wave is the seismic wave. Seismic waves are waves of force that travels through the Earth or other elastic bodies. We all know the damage that earthquake causes to environment and how it has to adapt and make changes so the process can begin all knew. Earthquakes creates various types of waves with different velocities. There are two type of seismic waves body waves and surface waves. Body waves travel through the interior of the Earth, which is what has happened after we see a earthquake that happens on land. Surface waves are analogous to water waves and travel along the Earth's surface, which we call underwater earthquakes. Both types of waves affect the environment causes the cycle of life to begin again. As you can see, without waves the Earth would be a different place and waves have a tremendous affect on our environment. Some of these affects aren't positive affects and some are but in the end each of them help the Earth in some way.

ReplyDeleteWaves make an impact on the environment in many ways due to there being so many types of waves. For example, earthquakes like the one in Haiti are caused by waves, in this case vibrations moving through the Earth's crust, or sound waves. The earthquake in Haiti made a big impact on their life, therefore meaning it made an impact on the environment, sou desu ne?
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment very significantly. Waves are caused by winds. Without waves, the winds would have only a very small grip on the water and would not be able to move it as much. Waves allow the wind to transfer its energy to the water's surface and to make it move. At the surface, waves promote the exchange of gases which include carbon dioxide into the oceans and oxygen out. Waves pound rocks and make them erode faster, but sea organisms covering these rocks, withholds this process. Waves make beaches by transporting sand from deeper down towards the shore and by washing the sand and removing particles. Waves can stir and suspend the sand so that currents or gravity can transport it.

ReplyDeleteWaves can definitely affect or alter the environment. They may also even affect us but not in any way we would see as significant. Everyones should know that waves are produced and carried out by the wind. So without that then no waves. There is living organisms deep under water that can't live without waves, because nutrients are not dispersed and sent out to these great distances where these organisms live. And if these organism aren't alive then what will the bigger fish in the sea eat on, with no energy they will die as well. And with all of this happening our fishing exports will not be delivering the same amounts of fish to support our countries needs. So in the end unidentified organisms deep under water are not the only ones affected by the change of not having waves anymore.

ReplyDeleteHow if at all do waves alter the environment? Waves are a big contributation to the disasters that occur. Waves are caused by wind. To illustrate haiti earthquake was caused by waves. Because of Vibrations. Also waves are very strong.
ReplyDeleteWaves have a very big impact on the environment.
ReplyDeleteWithout waves, the Sun would not warm us,(using UV rays) or give us light (using visible light rays).
We use waves to communicate with one another, with cell phones and radio transmitters, using radio and microwaves.
We also cook our food in microwave ovens, which use microwaves to heat the water inside of our food.
When the Earth absorbs the rays that the Sun gives off, it sends back infrared rays back.
Also, seismic waves have an impact on the environment.
Seismic waves are caused when there are disturbances in the Earth's crust. The tectonics move, mostly along fault lines, which causes earthquakes, which in turn can cause tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and avalanches.

Waves have one of the most impotant impacts than most othr tings. Without waves we wouldn't be able to see the things we see everyday because of visible light which is a type o EM wave. We wouldn't have things like cell phones that we have thanks to microwaves. And Earth wouln't be as warm as it is if it wasn't for the sun's UV rays. But most iportantly waves cause or land to formt he way it did thanks to things like water waves they smash against rocks wearing them away to form important features we see today.
ReplyDelete"A wave is a disturbance that propagates through space and time, usually with transference of energy." Waves alter the environment in many ways. From creating the waves in the beach that many surfers use. To causing earthquakes many people fear and everything else in between.
ReplyDeleteOne type of wave that alter' the the environment are water waves such as tsunamis. Tsunamis are giant waves caused by submarine earthquakes. Tsunamis can be big enough to be able to knock down houses and be very destructive. Regular water waves can also alter the envorinment because it causes erosion. For example, there is a cliff near the beach. You may not know it but over time that cliff is getting smaller and smaller because the waves are slowly breaking it down tiny piece by piece.
One more example I want to use how waves alter the environment are earthquakes. Earthquakes are caused by a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust causing seismic waves. Earthquakes can be very powerful and can destroy homes and the environment very easily.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waves
Waves have a big impact on society because it can lead to life-threatening situations in the weather. For instance, waves can lead to catastrophic earthquake like the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti just 2 weeks ago. Waves can also result in powerful tsunamis like the devastating tsunami that hit the Middle East in 2004. These are just 2 examples on how the waves can alter the environment(in particular waves).
ReplyDeleteI do know that the strongest type of wave we know, is a tsunami. Tsunamis play a horrible role in the lives of many. There is although companies that shelter tsunami survivors. It seems that Tsunamis can have some type of relationship with a couple of areas. For example: Science, Religion.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in many ways.Waves can lead to devastating Tsunamis, earthquakes and etc. For example The earthquake that hit haiti about 2 weeks ago, it left many in depression and many died.Without waves, the Sun would not warm us, using UV rays or give us light using visible light rays.
ReplyDeleteMichael Hughes(period #2)
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in many ways. There is a specific type of wave that has an impact on environments, that wave is called a tsunami. Tsunamis destroy many homes not only ours but those of living animals whether they are in trees in the ground or just a stray. Also when a tsunami strikes land it reforms it bringing the shore line closer then before, causing more land homes in danger of being demolished.
ReplyDeletewaves alter the enviroment in many ways.one kind of wave that impact the enviroment is the Tsunamis. In the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami killed over 200,000 people with many bodies either being lost to the sea or unidentified. Tsuanmis causes damage to buildings and infrastructure, animals, and plants.Due to the fast waves that destroys everything in its path.
ReplyDeleteWaves plays significant role in the environment. A display of waves in nature is normally found in natural disaters for example an earthquake. An earthquake is a disruptive force of energy that has just been release. The ground acts as a medium for the mechanical waves to travel through. The mechanical waves shakes the ground which causes cracks in the surface. The most recent earthquake that has happens is the one in Haiti. It reached a catastrophic magnitude of 7.0 on the richter scale. The earthquake cause major devastation to Port-au-Prince because the disruption was only 6 feet into the ground and hit the surface with a strong force with led to the destruction of many builing and homes.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in many ways. One wave that has impacted the environment is the tsunami. Tsunamis are a series of waves that happen underwater. The waves travel in all directions. Tsunamis destroy many homes and kill many people. They happen mostly in tropical islands such as Hawaii. Hawaii gets 1 tsunami every year, with a damaging tsunami happening about every 7 years.
ReplyDeleteWaves have altered the environment in a very big way. For one thing, tsunamis can be caused if either two big waves interact, or if the wave is very unstable. PLus, because of unstable waves earthquake can be caused. Wave motion is the way in which energy is transmitted from the earthquake source to the Earth's surface. Primary waves travel the fastest and are the first movement felt in an earthquake. They are propagated by longitudinal forces that displace particles by extension and compression. Just like what happened in Haiti which caused hundreds of deaths and injuries.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the enviornment in many interesting ways. One being when an ocean is at rest it is still. Untill there is a disturbence sensed. Therefore a wave is created and the still enviornment is alterd.

ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment by causing differences, and changes to the Earth, and its form. On example is the Earthquake that hit Haiti not to long ago. The waves of the earthquake caused major damage to the country destroying everything in its path because the waves was so close to the Earth's crust. Waves can also cause things like avalanche's and tsunamis dependin on the strength. Really waves change the Earth from one state to another.
ReplyDeleteWaves can affect their environment in many ways. A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy from point to point in a medium. There are many types of waves. From water to sound. Water waves can affect the environment . A Tsunami cause the water to receed back first before releasing it's energy. It can destroy buildings and destroy beaches. Heat ways can be another example. Due to heat wave in Europe during 2003, because of their hot temperatures, plant growth reduced. It caused CO2 to be lessened(which plants take in).
ReplyDeleteplanetark.com
Waves have a lot to do with the altering of the earths enviornment. Lets take the earthquake in Haiti for instance....
ReplyDeleteThe quake was formed by seismic and ground waves. The reason for the quake being so big and destructive is the shallow ground waves at 10-15 kilometers below the land's surface.....
Ground waves is a surface wave that propagates close to the surface of the Earths crust....
Earth's internal structure is produced vibrations, these are the seismic waves, which produce Earthquakes.... Body waves also determine the internal structure of the earth..
Before an earthquake occurs, violent displacement occurs in the earths crust, seismic waves are activated and therefor creating an earthquake...
So the waves altered the earths plates creating a huge vibration called an earthquake....
I dont want to keep rambling on so thats it....
DUECEZZ!!
Waves can alter an environment in many ways. When the intensity of a wave is increased more and more giant waves like tsunamis can form. Tsunamis can alter the environment on shore in that structures, trees, other plants, and buildings can be completely and utterly destroyed. Also, waves push against cliffs, rocks, and shores which limits the diversity of animal life along these areas. Seismic waves within the Earth can cause earthquakes which can also destroy buildings, plants, and even human lives. Heat waves can affect plant growth. Too much or too little heat can cause plants not to have adequate conditions to go through photosynthesis. If plants dont grow as well then we as humans get less food because we dont get the same crops and animals dont get their right supply of nutrients, throwing off the food chain.
ReplyDeleteWaves can alter the environment from something as small as an ocean wave to a massive earthquake. Waves can make what was once a paradise into thousands of miles of ruins. One type of wave that can do this is ocean waves... ocean waves can cause tsunamis to wipe out an entire nation. Tsunamis can also wipe out all the animal life it goes through. Another force of destruction is earthquakes like the one Haiti just had a few weeks ago which are caused by seismic waves.
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waves
weather can make immense waves. These waves can cause vast amounts of damage to it's surronding area, all this occurs because of wave reflection which causes other waves to bounce of denser objects
ReplyDeletehttp://www.seafriends.org.nz/oceano/waves.htm
Without waves, the world would be a different place. Waves cannot exist by themselves for they are caused by winds. Winds in turn are caused by differences in temperature on the planet, mainly between the hot tropics and the cold poles but also due to temperature fluctuations of continents relative to the sea.Without waves, the winds would have only a very small grip on the water and would not be able to move it as much. The waves allow the wind to transfer its energy to the water's surface and to make it move. At the surface, waves promote the exchange of gases: carbon dioxide into the oceans and oxygen out. Currents and eddies mix the layers of water which would otherwise become stagnant and less conducive to life. Nutrients are thus circulated and re-used.The large ocean currents transport warm water from the tropics to the poles and cold water the other way. They help to stabilise the planet's temperature and to minimise its extremes. For instance, because of warm ocean currents arriving from the north, the temperature of New Zealand is 3-4 degrees higher than it would be without them. For the creatures in the sea, ocean currents allow their larvae to be dispersed and to be carried great distances. Many creatures spawn only during storms when large waves can mix their gametes effectively.Coastal creatures living in shallow water experience the brunt of the waves directly. In order to survive there, they need to be robust and adaptable. Thus waves maintain a gradient of biodiversity all the way from the surface, down to depths of 30m or more. Without waves, there would not be as many species living in the sea.Waves pound rocks and make them erode faster, but sea organisms covering these rocks, delay this process. Waves make beaches by transporting sand from deeper down towards the shore and by washing the sand and removing fine particles. Waves stir and suspend the sand so that currents or gravity can transport it.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in several ways. 1st When the earthquake occur inside the ocean it create a huge wave and it's called "Tsunami". The 2nd one has lots of power and gots it's power from water, and comes with wind and waves, and it's called "Hurricanes". so waves alter the environment in several ways.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter with the environment in numerous ways. For instance, waves cause the earthquakes that occurs. Earthquakes happens when tension is released from the rocks in the Earth's crust and upper mantle. This causes shock waves to travel on the earth's surface, resulting in widespread destruction. Also, waves can cause tsunami's and shore erosion.
ReplyDeleteThe energy given off by the wind has an influence on waves. One way waves alter the environment is through tsunamis. These disasters feed off of the energy waves transfer. They destroy many homes for people and habitats for animal and plant life.

ReplyDeleteWaves alter our world in many ways we know of like tsunamis , hurricanes, earthquakes and many other nonhurtful and hurtful waves. For instance water waves travel through and create tsunmis.which can distroy homes or even countries at a time like Hati or even india tsunmis. In hurricanes all types of waves are shown like water waves, sound waves, and more. What about earthquakes they alter the world alot like think of the pangea and how earth got the way it is now, from techtonic plates and waves creating and changing the placements of continents.
ReplyDelete*Taeler Senior*
*Period 3*
Waves are able to alter the environment in disastrous ways such as Hurricanes,Tsunamis, and most recently in earthquakes. A recent disaster would be the earthquake in Haiti caused by seismic Waves but there has been contraversy coming from Hugo Chaves saying that these Earthquakes were caused by a U.S. military attack employing electromagnetic waves and "shock wave bombs which in my opinion is not true. Furthermore tsunamis are among the most powerful waves on Earth. When they reach the shore, these powerful waves strike with enough to cross the Pacific Ocean in less than a day. Surprisingly, if you were out at the sea, you wouldn't even notice these powerful waves. The reason has to do with the physics of waves-their velocity, wavelength, and amplitude.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment very much. Take an earthquake for example, the seismic waves created by this event cause massive destruction to the surrounding area. Thus altering the environment.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in two ways; both good and bad. The environment is altered by waves negatively by they are able to create a horrible natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunamis. Waves alter the environment in a decent good way by it helps us alot in medical things such as ultraviolet rays, and x-rays so waves altering our environment is a devastating thing but also benefits mankind.
ReplyDeleteSamuel Puwol
Waves has an extensive impact on the environment. There are plenty of things that waves do that impact the environment we just never realized what impact the waves have on the environment. Without waves this planet that we call earth would be a totally distinct place. Waves promote the exchange for gases such as carbon dioxide into the ocean and oxygen out.
ReplyDeleteWaves are a big part of our environment and, well, are often overlooked. Waves are simply disturbances that travel through mediums. How is it that such a little thing can alter our world so greatly? We know of many kinds of waves today, some deadly while others ( if used correctly) help us to excel. For example, radio waves are a part of our everyday lifestlye. Whether it be phones, computers, or satelites we use radiowaves to enhance our technology. Another example of the good that comes from waves is an X-ray. Although this wave has a high frequency, it can be used to determine the location of a broken or fractured bone. It has also helped modern science by detecting cancer cells before they are to harmful to cure. There are also harmful waves such as Gamma rays that can cause serious damage to skin tissue if exposed.
ReplyDeletewaves change the environment in many ways. 1 way is when earthquakes are created and the tectonic plates move.
ReplyDeletewaves alter not only the environment, but the music that we listen to from sound waves, the medicine that is produced from gamma waves, and everything that we see in life from visible light waves. so without these waves, we would not be able to function in this amazing world. - Jamori Wright
ReplyDeletewaves are natural factor to everything in this universe. when a wave is produce, it is a show that energy is flowing the wave it should be. with out waves, we would have no definite meaning of how energy travels
ReplyDeleteWaves impact the environment is many different ways. Earthquakes are sudden releases of energy that in result create seismic waves, Earlier this year, Haiti experienced an earthquake of 7.3 magnitude on the Richter scale. It has left thousands of people dead, mourning, and wounded. It destroyed major buildings in Port-au-Prince. Another way is in tsunamis. They are a series of water waves that are caused by an earthquake in the ocean. An example of this is the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. It killed 230,000 people in 14 countries bordering the Indian Ocean. The waves were up to 100 feet high. It was the second largest eartquake that was ever recorded on a seismograph with a 9.1 -9.3 magnitude.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in many different ways.
ReplyDeleteThere are many different types of waves that change the environment.
For example, the devestating earthquake that occured in Haiti just a
while ago, was caused by seismic waves. That earthquake caused many
lives to be lost and injured a large amount of people. It left Haiti
in a very critical condition. Sound waves on the other hand enable us
to liten to things at different decibels. Heat waves supply us with
energy and are very beneficial to plants since they get their
nutrients from heat.
~Mahanoor Nadeem
Waves affect the environment in may way. Examples earthquakes, earthquakes are caused by seismic waves. When a earthquakes are created the tectonic plates on the earth surface shift.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter our enviroment in many ways like
ReplyDeletethrough light, sound and water. But the most
recent wave is the one that hit Haiti on
January 13.2010.That is a prime example of
a seismic wave(an elastic shock wave that
travels through the earth, as from an
earthquake) that destroyed and killed many
people and buildings.
The people make up the enviroment along with the
buildings that were destoyed.Another example
of a wave is the sound that we hear when it
travels through the vaccum for you to
hear.Another wave that can be used is an
electromagnetic wave.It could be used to heat
up food and listen to the radio.
The environment is impacted by waves in plenty of ways. For example tsunamis. Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes under the water that didnt quite make it to the surface yet. Also we have hurricanes.
ReplyDeleteHow if at all do waves alter the environment?
ReplyDeleteWaves have a big part in our lives. Without the waves there isn't ways to communicate to each other a sun to give u warmth. Waves can also come in forms of natural disasters an example is a earthquake or a mudslide. Because of the natural disasters it alters the environment. We may not see it physically sometimes but eventually we see it the change in our earth's environment.
As always I am happy to see that many of you researched your answers to make sure you had the proper information in your writing. However, Sound does not travel through a vacuum and there are other examples of waves other than Tsunamis and earthquakes. Try to actually give the many reasons when you say there are. And always give the source you used to get your information. Thanks again
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in many different ways. Ways such as devastating the lives of many in the form of a Tsunami. Waves also alter the environment as a form that helps weathering and erosion. Waves also help the wind. Without Waves the wind would have nothing to grip on water surfaces. Another way waves alter the environment is by helping marine life. Many ocean inhabitants need their offspring to be carried off. Other than that some ocean life only give birth during enormous storms that come with large waves.
ReplyDeleteredo
ReplyDeletewaves also impact our live because waves are created when we talk, they carry sounds that we hear. waves are created in many different ways and affect the environment in different waves also. some waves affect the earth's surface; example earthquakes and tsunamia
Waves can alter the environment in many ways whether it is good or bad. There are many forms in which wave patterns can go, whether it be diffraction, refracton, reflection or any other pattern. Waves can alter the environment in bad ways such as earthquakes, which can also be a cause of tsunami's, these earthquakes or tsunami's are caused by the lateral movement of tectonic plates which lets off seismic waves, which can have many different velocities. A good way that waves can alter the environment is a nice ocean wave washing up on shore, these ocean waves are caused by the air, which can blow in different directions, so the direction of the wave depends on whatever direction the wind is blowing.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter our environment in many ways an forms. for example, the earthquake in Haiti, is a form of a wave that caused diturbanced and distruction to a populated area. These type of waves can cause a long and disturbing effect. Another good example of a wave, is the ocean. waves are formed everyday at the ocean, also they can cause devastating sittuatins, like a tsunami.
ReplyDeleteRedo
ReplyDeleteWaves alter ours environment very much. We may not know it but there are waves everywhere. The sun light we see everyday is a type of wave (a light wave to be specific) and it is very necessary for our life. Another type of wave is an earthquake, these waves normally occur when the tectonic plates move under earths surface. Due to this occurrence the waves sent off from the movement causes the environment to change where this took place. These types of waves are almost always destructive.
Waves alter our environment in many different way, most of the times you can kinda see their effect and some times you cant. There are many different ways from radio ways to uv rays. waves like earthquakes and tsunamis may be the most commen wave that we see that alter are environment in a large scale. waves like Earthquakes destroy everthing in its path leaving nothing behind but broken down building and trees but not all waves alter are environment it harmful ways. Waves like radio ways can be used to send messages across the world to help to stop fires in area that need help.
ReplyDeleteThe waves impact your environment in many ways. One way is that the have many properties that happens in the earth's nature like tsunami. This happens because of the earthquake in the water. Waves formed in three types; Mechanical waves, electromagnetic waves, and matter waves. Tsunami was an mechanical wave because it deals with deals with water.
ReplyDeleteWaves impact the Earth a lot, like earthquake for instance, then if the earthquake happens underwater; it creates Tsunami. Like the earthquake the build up a lot of pressure in Haiti, the earth quake nearly affected the whole country and is in a poor condition.
ReplyDeleteBlogs that have been reconsidered have been reevaluated.

ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in many ways. The 1st way is that waves affect the wind movement on the Earth. Winds have only a small grip on the Earth's water and because of waves....wind currents are not able to move as much. Waves also alter the environment by affecting the temperature. Waves stabilize the earth's temperature by bringing warm water to colder areas(and vice versa)therefore stabilizing temperatures around the world. Another example of how waves alter the Earth is by weathering and erosion. Waves pummel on rocks, increasing the rate at which they erode faster. Waves also make new beaches by moving sand deeper toward the shore and removing sand particles. In conclusion, without waves, the world would be a different place far from what we see in it today.

waves changes the area of the beach that is exposed at low tide, and determines the available habitat for intertidal species. For example, steep beaches have relatively limited habitats, compared to mud flats, storms and large waves can tear up kelp beds, and deposit the plant material on beaches where it nourishes shoreline plants and animals. Strong waves can also tear attached species such as mussels from the rocks, allowing other individuals or species to colonize that space.
ReplyDeleteWaves affect nature in many different ways. Waves effect the environments temperature. They bring cold water to warm areas and warm water to cold areas by currents which circulate the water. Another waves is like the earthquake which hit Haiti a little while back. It caused disturbances in the earth which caused destruction in the whole area.
ReplyDeleteWaves alter the environment in two ways; both good and bad. The environment is altered by waves negatively by they are able to create a horrible natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunamis, For example tsunamis are caused when water waves bounce or reflect off of denser objects like rocky shores so for tsunamis long waves bounce off of the continental slope and causes tsunamis. Waves alter the environment in a decent good way because without these waves in our environment today the world would have never the same but the winds work with the waves. Waves help to regulate the earths temperature and help to minimize extremes. For example because of warm ocean currents from the north the temperature of new zeland is now increased by 3-4 degrees than it would be without waves.

Waves can impact the enviornment in many different ways. One way being the amount of force a wave has. If a wave has enough force it is able to create a wave or tsunami big enough to cause damage to a large area.
ReplyDeletewaves alter the environment in
ReplyDeletemany ways. it alters natural
disasters like tsunami an hurricanes. when we have waves in our beaches and hurricanes a lot of damage can be done when a hurricane hits. things can get crucial when this happens.
Waves alter the environment in many ways good and bad.It alter the environment in a good way by radio waves allow us to communicate and microwaves allow us to warm are food. Also light waves allow us to see.Waves alter the environment in a bad way by water waves can cause tsunami that damages property and home.Second earthquakes another disaster cause by waves destroyed property and roads: like the earthquake that happen in Haiti and Chile.

Waves are all around us. They come in many forms and frequencies. heat are waves that come from the sun or a light source. Sound waves come from sources that can produce sound. And there are a whole lot of other waves that impact our environment. UV rays come along with heat waves and they can warm up an environment and they give plants food. Sound waves may be the most common. When you hear sound or noise, sound waves are rebounding off off surfaces. Sound waves are also used by animals to communicate. Ocean waves are affected by the pull of our satellite, the moon. Waves on earth can reshape evironments and whole regions.
ReplyDeleteThe winds blow over the water, changingits surface into ripples and waves. As waves grow in height the waves pushes them along faster and higher. Waves can become unexpectedly strong and distructive.
ReplyDeleteWhich can lead to tsunami. Second it alter the environment by waves sometimes cause earthquakes which destroy environment. It all alter the environment in a good way by light waves allow us to see and radiation from the sun warm us during cold season.
